The Asp of Cleopatra, according to legend, was used by Queen Cleopatra to take her own life, hence its name.
Its bite is not very painful but lethal. For this reason, its venom was chosen for the execution of high-ranking social figures in ancient Egypt.
It possesses an incredible ability to adapt to habitat changes, which has made this animal a born survivor, able to persist to this day, carrying out its life cycle in the same way as it did thousands of years ago.
