Víbora de fosetas azul - Parque de Cabárceno

Like other pit vipers that live in the trees of Asia and some Bothrops (a genus of venomous snakes from the pit viper subfamily) from America, this snake spends most of the day hidden among the vegetation.

It loves to take refuge in bamboo thickets that grow near rivers and ponds, where it ambushes all kinds of small animals that share its habitat.

What makes this snake truly special is its incredible ability to catch birds in mid-flight. Thanks to its strong and flexible body and a prehensile tail that acts like a natural spring, it can launch itself quickly and surprise its prey.

Furthermore, it possesses long fangs that protrude from its large head, perfect for precise hunting. It’s a truly cunning and agile hunter!
