The King Cobra is the world’s largest venomous snake. It can reach lengths of up to 6 meters and weigh over 12 kg. Its scientific name indicates that we are dealing with a snake-eater that will not hesitate to even practice cannibalism.
During the breeding season, it develops a particular behavior unique among snakes: by piling up a large quantity of leaves, it forms a nest on the ground to deposit its eggs inside, which it will jealously defend throughout the incubation period. After a little more than two months, a new generation of cobras will emerge from their eggs. Their mother, moments before hatching and obeying her instinct, will stop protecting the nest and in this way avoid preying on her own young when they are born.
