The Bear House at Cabárceno is an interpretive and awareness space dedicated to the brown bears living freely in the Cantabrian Mountains. This population, estimated between 324 and 370 bears according to the latest genetic studies, is classified as Endangered. Consequently, significant efforts are being made to protect and recover it.

The facility offers visitors various experiences to learn about the most unique aspects of bears’ lives, such as hibernation and their diet, which is primarily vegetarian but highly varied depending on the time of year.

Discovering signs of their presence, understanding how climate change affects them, or even stepping into their most secret refuge – the “osera” (bear’s den) – provides a captivating and immersive sensory experience into the world of Cantabrian bears. The visit is complemented by interactive and audiovisual elements that offer a distinct experiential character.

The Bear House, located next to the farm, is a joint initiative by the Cabárceno Nature Park and the Brown Bear Foundation. It offers an ideal complement to your visit to Cabárceno.
