Cork Oak

It is an evergreen tree with a rounded, quite irregular crown, with a crown width of between 6 and 8 m. Its bark is suberous, very thick, and dark gray.

Curiosities

It is widely used for the extraction of its bark for the production of cork objects. The acorns are used to feed animals, especially the Iberian pig.

Height They can reach up to 25 m.
Leaves Its leaves are 4 to 7 cm long and can be lobed or serrated.
Flowers/Fruit This plant flowers in spring and sometimes diffusely into summer and autumn. Its fruit is an elongated, hairy acorn at the apex.
Climate/Habitat Not very dry, warm climates. Siliceous terrain and permeable soils. Western Mediterranean.
