Relatively slender with respect to its weight, the Malayopython reticulatus is the longest snake in the world, competing for this distinction with the South American anaconda, which is undoubtedly much more voluminous.
It inhabits the humid tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, frequenting swampy areas. They are excellent swimmers, having even been found in open sea.
In the first four years of their life, they experience ultra-rapid growth, reaching 3 meters in length and sexual maturity during this period. Along with other pythons, like Python molurus, it protects and incubates the clutch by coiling around it and rubbing it with muscular contractions. The clutch ranges from 30 to 40 eggs, 9 cm in length.
