Tree with a straight trunk, great thickness, and longevity (some millennial specimens exist). Deciduous and with a rounded crown.

Curiosities

Chestnuts are an excellent fruit, energetic and nourishing. They can be eaten raw or roasted, and liqueurs can be made from them.

Height Up to 30m.
Leaves The leaves are simple, deciduous, and alternate. They are oblong-lanceolate in shape, 10 to 25 cm long, and serrated along their margin.
Flowers/Fruit In summer, the flowers will be seen, the male ones in long and narrow yellow filaments and the female ones at their base. After fertilization, they enclose their fruit (chestnut) with a spiny casing.
Climate/Habitat Cool places with some humidity. Deep soils in mountainous areas.
